down the journey i go

first off i want to comment on what a great community this seems to be small, and community like. it'll be great to have you all on my journey and hopefully we can all inspire one another especially those new to battling the world of cooked foods.

a few years ago, i had ate only raw foods for nearly a month and my health amazed me. that was a few years ago, three years down the road my health has dwindled yet again. i spent the past year living very, very poorly and eating very, very poorly. and having no heat in my house. as you can imagine, my health went downhill very quickly and very fast, and eating cheap cooked things that i could get my hands on also added to weight gain and muscle loss. by the end of that very poor year, my feet had turned blue and green and were that way for a month. i now have the financial ability to take care of myself so i believe it is time. i also have a high heart rate which i believe is due to my eating habits which i would like to lower by raw foods and exercise.

beginning tomorrow i'm going to eat 100% raw fruits and vegetables, with no allowance of other items until thanksgiving. as well as 30 minutes cardio per day. knowing my addiction to cooked foods, i'll be extra thankful that day! after thanksgiving break i plan on enduring this continually until christmas. i also have no options of creating raw food meals other than grabbing a piece of fruit or a vegetable due to my job and travels. some say why stop over thanksgiving and christmas? i know i am not personally ready to commit so fully and those events are pretty big and my mom enjoys cooking for me. appreciate what i am given, i say. other than at those times though, it is fully in my control what goes into my body, and how i treat my body...and i shall see to it it LIVES! just another comment, i am a full-time vegetarian and have been for many, many years.

i will probably update a few times a week. i enjoy reading your daily logs as well.

wishing the best,

First Raw Meal

The hubby and I made our first raw meal tonight. We made the crab delight from www.fromsadtoraw.com

It was tasty! We wrapped it in lettuce. It's hard to believe I got full on that, but I did!

I also had an adventure today going out with a friend and trying tofu for the first time. It was okay. Then she made me raw ice cream using bananas and a raw chocolate sauce she whipped together--yum. I found myself wanting to feel guilty for eating it. I had to keep reminding myself it was good for me and okay!

This adventure is going to be so much fun.

I also really enjoyed how my husband helped me make the crab delight and then cleaned the kitchen with me. I think since we both want to do this it will bring us closer together which is always good. I am so excited!

Two pictures I am very excited about.

I never used to be able to fully wrap a towel around me, there would be a space in the middle that would be open. And nowwwwwwwww

That is all, I will write more later because Sam and I are going to watch a movieeee.

new website to share... a real update soon

Oct. 17th, 2006

My Update.

I'll have to post some new pictures because I've lost quite a bit of weight just living, breathing, and sharing this new lifestyle. Compared to my hubby who is gaining weight because all he eats is cooked crap, I'm giving him my pounds!! Not good for him, but a big plus for me.

Ian wrote a background story - - - my  background story is about my weight which came to love my body around the time my father died. Did not have good support around me, I was very weak: emotionally, my self-discipline--esteem--worth went way down to almost nothing because I let myself go, didn't care, and I gained the weight. Moved to New Jersey May of 2004 to get away from a bad cycle, met Kelli & Sam, and because of them I met Greg, my husband.

I had my daughter, Sydney while still heavy--lost some weight in the first 3-4 months due to not being able to keep anything down, but I am not still where I want to be. I should have cared way before I even met Kelli.

Kelli, is the one who brought this idea up to me. I was and still am behind her 100% to be living an 80-100% raw food lifestyle. It has now been over a month and I have lost 19 pounds, which makes me weigh - - - what? - - - 165 - - - which is great in my book! Thank you Ian for sharing this with Kelli and thank you Kelli for sharing this with me.

As you are having more progress with Sam, Kelli - - -Greg is completely 100% not into this type of lifestyle. He does eat carrots (every so often) but that is about it. He eats red delicious apples maybe once every two weeks. So anyone can tell he is a very difficult, stubborn guy. Hopefully someday that will change. I do get him to try some things when I make them, but it's only a bite and I get a face because it's healthy, funny combinations of food. Nothing new for me.

I tried your Yummy Sandwich, Kelli - - - I have it saved as my Raw Food Recipes in a Word document so hopefully whenever I find someone who wants to try this lifestyle all I'll have to do is e-mail them that document. Some people are just lazy in the beginning and do not want to do the work, which isn't much, but it is easier for a beginning if it is laid out for them to get them more excited that they are doing something wonderful for their body. My boss is actually doing this lifestyle now and is incorporating it into her five children and a skepticle husband's three meals a day menu.

Right now, I am trying to save money. So, not going out to eat with Greg is a big saver. I think I might get him to go to one of the raw food restaurants in Manhattan, but it's still a big ify!!

Grocery store later tonight. I have a meal plan of things to make in the next week, so I'm excited. Anyone reading this should definately try this lifestyle because you can't lose anything but weight and if you never try then you'll never know how much of a cooked food addict most people are today.

Quick update. Down 22 pounds, had some wheatgrass juice this morning, not eating as well as I should...not enough greens. Bored with my salad dressing, keep wanting to put RANCH dressing on it :[ Going out to buy some new smaller clothes right now, so pretty excited about that. Might get an IPOD so I can exercise. THat's all, bye.
